Split the Stars
This simulation series is based on concept of Limit of resolution. The limit of resolution is the smallest gap that still looks like two points. A round hole blurs every point of light into a small disc. A wider hole or a shorter wave shrinks the discs and splits the pair.
Physics · Class 12 · Resolving two points · 5 simulations. For JEE, NEET and your boards.
What you'll learn
- A round hole's disc Light passes through a round hole. Find the radius of the first dark ring on the screen.
- Split two stars Two stars look like one star. Find the smallest mirror that shows them as two.
- Headlights Two headlights move away from you. Find the farthest distance at which they still look like two.
- Change the colour A telescope just splits two stars. Find the colour that splits an even smaller gap.
- Oil microscope A microscope looks at two dots through oil. Find the smallest gap it still splits.
