Slit Spread
This simulation series is based on concept of Diffraction. Diffraction is the spreading of a wave after it passes a narrow gap. The wave bends into the shadow instead of going straight. A narrower gap spreads the wave more.
Physics · Class 12 · Diffraction by a slit · 8 simulations. For JEE, NEET and your boards.
What you'll learn
- Sound round a door A sound wave spreads through a doorway. Find the doorway width from the first quiet direction.
- First dark band Light passes one narrow slit. Find where the first dark band lands on the screen.
- Dark at an angle Find the slit width that puts the first dark band at a given angle.
- Between two dark bands Two dark bands on one side sit a known distance apart. Find the slit width.
- Fringes in the glow Two slits make fringes inside one central glow. Find the slit width that makes the glow a given number of fringes wide.
- Two close colours Two close colours pass one slit. Find the gap between their first side bright bands.
- Best pinhole A pinhole throws a spot of light on the back wall of a box. Find the hole radius that makes the smallest spot.
- Blue sky Air scatters sunlight. Find how many times more the violet light scatters than the red light.
