Round Trip

This simulation series is based on concept of Average speed and average velocity. Average speed is the total distance divided by the total time. Average velocity is the displacement divided by the total time. Displacement is the straight line from start to finish.

Physics · Class 11 · Average speed and average velocity · 6 simulations. For JEE, NEET and your boards.

What you'll learn

  1. There and back You drive to a town at one speed and back at another speed. Find your average speed for the whole trip.
  2. Set the return speed You drive to a town at one speed. Find the speed back that gives the target average speed for the round trip.
  3. The average you can't beat You drive to a town at one speed. You come back very fast. Find the limit of your average speed.
  4. Half the distance, half the time A cyclist rides half the distance at one speed. She rides the rest at two speeds for equal times. Find her average speed.
  5. Round the bend A runner goes part of the way round a circular track. Find the size of her average velocity.
  6. Three sides, back home You drive round a triangle of equal sides at three speeds. You end where you started. Find your average speed and average velocity.
