What you'll learn

  1. Reading the meter: Two equal beams: I = 4I₀cos²(φ/2)
  2. Unequal beams: Unequal beams: I = I₁ + I₂ + 2√(I₁I₂) cos φ
  3. One slit 4 times wider: Brightest and darkest: (√I₁ ± √I₂)²
  4. Set the second slit: Work back from Imax : Imin
  5. Two separate bulbs: Separate bulbs do not make fringes
  6. A quarter as bright: The spot for a share of the peak
  7. Set the gap for 3/4: Set the slit gap for a reading
  8. Polaroids on the slits: Only parallel waves interfere
